How might the history my grandchildren and great-grandchildren read in 30 years? Let us hope my hypothetical projection for 2020 doesn't read like that.

In June 1914, Austrian archduke F. Ferdinand was assassinated, resulting in the horrendous World War I, thus changing forever the face of the earth, yet bringing more freedom to the world.
In September 1939, Hitler invaded Poland and led allied world forces to rage the most brutal war of all times, costing the lives of 50+ million people, thus changing forever the face of the earth, yet bringing more freedom to the world.
In December 1941, the bombing of Pearl Harbor led to the escalation of the WW2 and the launch of atomic bombs (1945) that devastated Japan, thus changing forever the face of the earth, yet bringing more freedom to the world.
In November 1989, the fall of the Berlin Wall forced the Soviet Union to give up its grip on Eastern Europe, thus changing forever the face of the earth, and bringing more freedom to the world.
In November 2020, a concerted action produced in the bowels of the dark side of power brought the entire planet to its knees. Due to the stupidity - as a matter of fact, Machiavellian shrewdness - of healthcare leaders and their repeatedly mistaken (actually, purposeful) calculations, which generated widespread irrational panic, the coronavirus (then called covid19, with fatality rate of 1-2%!) convinced the entire globe to let go of their liberties and lock themselves down in the confinement of their homes (exception made to their trips to Walmart, Costco, etc). This lockdown had such a profound adverse effect on the global economy, with the sharpest rise in unemployment seen anywhere in the 20th and 21st centuries combined. The amount of control scared individuals voluntarily and gladly gave the governments over their personal liberties and freedoms was unprecedented in modern world history, thus changing forever the face of the earth and giving rise to an absurd amount of control all over the world.
